NC Truck Driving Championship

The NC Truck Driving Championship provide professional truck drivers to compete in nine different classes. The winner of each class will go on to represent North Carolina at the National Truck Driving Championships.

Safety Professional of the Year

The Safety Director Award is presented annually to the motor carrier safety professional whose job qualifications, achievements and ability to design and direct safety programs that are deemed most outstanding. The program is designed to promote high standards in the qualifications and performance of those in the motor carrier safety profession.

HR Safety Professional of the Year

This prestigious award will be presented to a Human Resources leader who deserves to be recognized for extraordinary contributions. This person is engaged in the NCTA Safety and Human Resources Council and serves as the “go-to” person for guidance and solutions in the transportation industry. This person partners with both Safety and Human Resources professional to come up with innovative ideas relating to driver recruitment and retention, and human resources and labor issues.

North Carolina Road Team

In an effort to promote highway safety and inform the general public about the trucking industry, the North Carolina Trucking Association, through the NC Trucking Association Foundation, formed the North Carolina Road Team. The Road Team consists of commercial truck drivers who excel at their profession and are dedicated to safety, courtesy, and responsibility.

Fleet Safety Awards

This Safety & Human Resources Council program recognizes trucking companies for their cumulative safety performance. Competing in several size categories, companies report their mileage and the number of reportable accidents they had in the previous year. After auditing the results, the Council recognizes those deemed to be the safest trucking companies in North Carolina.

Industrial Safety Awards

Industrial Safety Award recognizes trucking companies with the best ratio of hours worked relative to time lost due to industrial accidents. As with the Vehicle Safety Awards above, the Council audits the entries for accuracy. Winners are selected in various size categories.

Driver of the Year/Driver of the Month

The purpose of this program is to recognize North Carolina truck drivers for their commitment to safety and professionalism during their driving career.

Allied Member of the Year

The Allied Member of the Year Award is presented to the allied professional whose dedication to safety and service to the trucking industry goes above and beyond to support the efforts of the Council.

Carrier Assistance Program

The Carrier Assistance Program assists other trucking companies that need advice on compliance or safety issues, program is available to anyone in the trucking business.


 Recipients mission of the Governor's Highway Safety Program is to promote highway safety awareness and reduce the number of traffic crashes and fatalities in the state of North Carolina through the planning and execution of safety programs. The Governor’s Highways Safety Program oversees a variety of important safety campaigns, including "Booze It and Lose It" and "Click It or Ticket It.
